Nestled like a diamond between the Umbrian heights and the Tuscan valleys, Lake Trasimeno is the fourth largest lake in Italy with a surface area of 128 square kilometres. The basin is of tectonic origin and extends into the territory of the province of Perugia. This stretch of water owes its name to an ancient and curious legend: it is said that the valiant Prince Trasimeno, son of the Etruscan King Tirreno di Lidia, fell madly in love with the nymph Agilla, so much so that he joined her in marriage right on the shores of the lake. The basin was also the scene of important historical events such as the Battle of Trasimeno in 217 BC, a conflict in which Hannibal's Carthaginian troops had the upper hand over the Roman legions.

Lake Trasimeno is an authentic natural paradise that is able to express its timeless charm in all seasons, being framed by lush vegetation and beautiful villages reflected in its waters.
