Admire enchanting art cities

Developing in the heart of central Italy, Lake Trasimeno is an excellent starting point for cultural tours to the sumptuous art cities of Umbria and the neighbouring regions.

Within the regional confines lie numerous jewels such as Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Todi and Orvieto. Leaving the Umbrian territory, instead, you can find some of the most loved and appreciated cities of art by tourists from all over the world:

  • Rome: the capital of Italy, one of the most famous cities in the world for the richness of its artistic, historical and architectural patrimony. Passing through the streets and charming piazzas of the Eternal City, visitors can relive thousands of years of history, bringing to light literary, spiritual and cultural testimonies that have marked the Bel Paese's lively past. Protected by the ancient Aurelian walls, the centre of Rome is adorned with authentic treasures such as the imposing Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Imperial Forum, the sumptuous St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums, which preserve the works of the glorious Michelangelo Buonarroti.

  • Florence: the home of the Renaissance is a city of timeless charm, a metropolis dotted with ancient palaces and luxurious 19th-century residences, not to mention the countless churches, stone bridges and prestigious museums one encounters while walking along the banks of the Arno River. The City of Dante is a wonder to discover, a destination that offers sensational sites such as the sumptuous Duomo di Firenze, Piazza della Signoria with its elegant Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, the enchanting Ponte Vecchio and the Galleria dell'Accademia, containing Michelangelo's original statue of David.

  • Siena: a unique and distinctive city, a jewel with an intimate and cosy atmosphere that maintains the traits of an ancient medieval village. Siena is one of Tuscany's most surprising destinations, a charming place where time has literally stopped. Its historical centre is an harmonious succession of tiny alleys, reddish buildings and monumental palaces embraced by a well-preserved city wall. The cosy Tuscan salon offers sites of great interest: for example, the spectacular Piazza del Campo, the true heart of the city, the sumptuous Duomo di Siena, the Palazzo Pubblico, the Torre del Mangia with its 400 steps and the Museo Civico, which contains a famous allegory painted by Ambrogio Lorenzetti.
